The UK Gambling Commission has been coming down hard on online gambling operators recently that don't fully comply with its comprehensive regulations, meting out severe fines to offenders. In the latest incident, 10bet has been cited for multiple lapses in social responsibility and anti-money laundering.

Following the regulator's findings, Blue Star Planet Limited, which operates the 10bet sportsbook and casino, has agreed to a £620,000 fine.

An investigation by UKGC revealed 10bet breached several licensing conditions between November 2019 and June 2021, highlighting lapses in compliance.

The Commission found 10bet fell short in its anti-money laundering procedures and cited inadequacies in responsible gambling strategies and reporting protocols.

Concerning anti-money laundering, Blue Star Planet Limited admitted to setting customer deposit limits too liberally and threshold alerts for AML risks too high.

The Commission noted that customers were allowed substantial deposits without timely risk assessment. It highlighted an instance where swift gambling prior to automated account restrictions was allowed at 10bet.

Moreover, 10bet's reference to the UKGC license on their site was incorrect, which is against the governing license rules – an error quickly corrected.

The Commission emphasized that the breaches were serious, with Blue Star Planet's management reportedly aware of the administrative lapses.

Nonetheless, mitigating factors included their prompt recognition of errors and cooperation during investigations.

Remember that the The Gambling Commission has imposed financial penalties on several operators this year totaling over £7.5 million, including a notable £6.1m fine on InTouch Games.
